Metro, together with the Victorian Government, looks forward to welcoming passengers to the Metro Tunnel.
The Metro Tunnel and our five new world class underground stations will connect Melbournians to residential, retail and commercial areas, major university and hospital precincts, Melbourne landmarks, and the City Loop.
We’re proud to provide this positive legacy for future generations, ensuring Melbournians have access to a world-class railway.

From Sunday 30 November 2025 Summer Start will see more than 240 extra weekly services running along the Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sunbury corridor every day – stopping at all five new underground stations – on top of existing services.
In addition to existing services through the City Loop, services will run through the Metro Tunnel every 20 minutes from 10:00am to 3:00pm on weekdays, and from 10:00am to 7:00pm on weekends between Westall and West Footscray, with some weekend services extending to East Pakenham and Sunbury.
The Big Switch will see a full network timetable change on 1 February 2026. From this date the Metro Tunnel will be fully integrated into our network with the Sunbury, Cranbourne and Pakenham lines running exclusively through the Metro Tunnel, supported by the new timetable and more than 1,000 extra weekly services.
