Station Accessibility Features
Beacon technology
Wayfinding beacons give passengers who are blind or have low vision navigational information via the free BlindSquare Event app. This technology is available on concourses at Flinders Street, Flagstaff, Parliament, Melbourne Central, Richmond, Footscray and Southern Cross stations
Assistance Animal Relief Areas
To encourage passengers travelling with an Assistance Animal on board our services, Metro has introduced five new Assistance Animal Relief Areas around the network. The five facilities provide access to appropriate surfacing, water and fencing at Footscray, Parliament, Caulfield, Flemington Racecourse and Showgrounds stations.
Wheelchair Movers
Wheelchair Movers are motorised devices that can be attached securely to the back of most manual H-frame wheelchairs, allowing station staff to safely assist passengers who have difficulty using station ramps. They are not for use with motorised/electric wheelchairs. More information about Metro’s Wheelchair Movers can be found here.
Stony Point Line
Metro operates diesel trains along the Stony Point line, which consists of ten stations from Frankston to Stony Point. Conductors are available to assist passengers onto and aboard trains on this line. Learn more about stations on the Stony Point line.
