Murrumbeena Station will be temporarily closed from 17 June for up to 11 weeks while Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal works take place.

During this time, trains will not stop at Murrumbeena. An express bus will run direct between Caulfield and Murrumbeena stations while a shuttle service will operate between Murrumbeena, Carnegie and Hughesdale stations.

1 January 2017 - 30 June 2018

Due to works as part of the Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project and works as part of rail systems upgrades in preparation for High Capacity Metro Trains, there will be full and partial, temporary, long-term and short-term closures of station car parks and changes to pedestrian access in and around stations on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines.

During construction, station car park users are encouraged to plan their travel and consider alternative transport to nearby stations and car parks.

To ensure there is no loss of car parking for rail customers during construction, car parks have been extended to provide approximately:

  • 172 spaces at East Malvern Station
  • 170 spaces at Holmesglen Station
  • 80 spaces at Huntingdale Station
  • 147 spaces at Clayton Station
  • 166 spaces at Sandown Park Station

Full and partial car park closures

Caulfield Station
Train replacement bus interchange operations will require suspension of on-street parking on Sir John Monash Drive at Caulfield Station from 11pm Friday 16 June to 4am Monday 19 June 2017.

Carnegie Station
Morton Avenue full car park closure: 

  • Morton Avenue car park is now closed to allow works to the Koornang Road level crossing, construction of elevated tracks and rebuilding of the station
  • Disability Permit parking has been retained within the station precinct. Please refer to station signage for location details.
  • To ensure there is no loss of parking for rail customers during construction, East Malvern Station and Holmesglen Station car parks have been extended to provide approximately 342 additional car spaces.

Murrumbeena Station
Railway Parade corner car park closure:
March 2017 – mid-2018

  • This car park is now closed until mid-2018.
  • A Disability Permit space will remain adjacent to the station entrance for the duration of works.

Neerim Road and Railway Parade car park closures:  July 2016 – mid-2018

  • Neerim Road and Railway Parade car parks are now closed until mid-2018 to remove the Murrumbeena Road level crossing, construct elevated tracks and rebuild the station.
  • A Disability Permit space will remain near the station entrance on Railway Parade for the duration of works.
  • To ensure there is no loss of car parking for rail customers during construction, East Malvern Station and Holmesglen Station car parks have been extended to provide approximately 342 additional car spaces.

Hughesdale Station

On-street car space closures: March 2017 – Early 2018
Four hour on-street parking on the south side of Willesden Road near Poath Road is now closed until early 2018.
For your safety, please observe any signage and instructions put in place during these works.

Car park closure: January 2016 – mid-2018
Hughesdale Station car park on the northern side of Poath Road opposite Willesden Road is now closed until mid-2018.

To ensure there is no loss of car parking for rail customers during construction, East Malvern Station and Holmesglen Station car parks have been extended to provide approximately 30 additional car spaces. 

Oakleigh Station
Train replacement bus operations at Haughton Road at Oakleigh Station will require suspension of on-street parking between Johnson Street and Mill Road from 11pm Friday 16 June to 4am Monday 19 June 2017.

Shared use path closure:
The shared use path from the eastern end of Oakleigh Station car park to Huntingdale Station will be closed from Tuesday 13 June to Tuesday 27 June 2017. Please follow detour signs in place.

Huntingdale Station
Huntingdale Station car park will be partially closed (up to 40 spaces) from 6am Saturday 17 June to 7pm Sunday 18 June 2017.

For your safety, please observe any signage and instructions put in place during these works.

Clayton Station
Carinish Road car park closure: September 2016 – mid-2018

  • Clayton Station Carinish Road car park is now closed to remove level crossings, construct elevated tracks and rebuild the station.
  • Disability Permit parking has been retained and relocated near the station entrance.
  • To ensure there is no loss of parking for rail customers during construction, the car park at Huntingdale Station has been extended to provide 80 additional car spaces.
  • Station car park users are encouraged to plan their travel and consider alternative transport to nearby stations and offset car park locations.

Sandown Park Station
Sandown Park Station car park on Flinders Street will be partially closed (up to 15 spaces) from 7am Tuesday 13 June to 5pm Monday 5 July 2017.

For your safety, please observe any signage and instructions put in place during these works.

Noble Park Station
Noble Park Station car park will be partially closed (up to 12 car spaces) from Wednesday 17 May 2017 until mid-2018.

For your safety, please observe any signage and instructions put in place during these works.

Mons Parade car park closure: August 2016 – mid-2018

  • Mons Parade car park is now closed until mid-2018 to allow works to remove level crossings, construct elevated tracks and rebuild the station.
  • To ensure there is no loss of parking for rail customers during construction, car parks have been extended to provide 166 additional car spaces at Sandown Park Station.

Dandenong Station
Dandenong Station car park (off Foster Street) will be partially closed from 7.30am on Thursday 22 June until 5pm on Monday 19 July 2017.

“Kiss and Ride” parking at Dandenong Station on Foster Street (station side) will then be suspended from 11pm Friday 16 June to 4am Monday 19 June 2017 due to train replacement bus operations.

Dandenong Station western car park (off Cheltenham Road) is partially closed until 5pm on Wednesday 21 June 2017.

Berwick Station
Clyde Road partial car park closures: 
Monday 5 June – Tuesday 11 July 2017

  • Stage 1 – Berwick Station partial car park closure (up to 61 car spaces) from
    7pm on Sunday 4 June to 7pm on Friday 16 June 2017.
  • Stage 2 – Berwick Station partial car park closure (up to 26 car spaces) from
    7pm on Sunday 19 June to 4am on Saturday 24 June 2017.
  • Stage 3 – Berwick Station temporary closure and relocation of 9 Disability Parking Permit parking spaces.
    Car park lanes temporarily closed, as well as ‘Kiss and Ride’ temporarily relocated from 4am on Monday 26 June to 7pm on Wednesday 5 July 2017.
  • Stage 4 – Berwick Station lane closure from 4am on Thursday 6 July to 7pm on Tuesday 11 July 2017.

Pedestrian access changes

Carnegie Station:
Please note the following permanent changes to footpath access around Carnegie Station from August 2016 to mid-2018:

  • The footpath from Carnegie Station to Hewitts Road has been permanently removed. Customers are advised to detour via Morton Avenue, Shepparson Avenue, Jersey Parade and Tranmere Avenue.
  • The pedestrian rail crossing between Carnegie Station car park and Woorayl Street, near Chestnut Street is now closed. Customers are advised to detour via Koornang Road.
  • The pedestrian crossing at Cosy Gum Road, Carnegie is now closed until mid-2018. . Please follow detour in place via Grange Road or Koornang Road level crossings.

Murrumbeena Station:
Murrumbeena Road pedestrian level crossing (west side) is closed from Wednesday 14 June to Sunday 18 June 2017. For your safety, please follow detour signs via the pedestrian crossing on the eastern side of Chandler Road.

Murrumbeena Station pedestrian bridge has been permanently removed for construction of elevated tracks and to rebuild the station.
Customers are advised to use the Murrumbeena Road pedestrian crossing.

Hughesdale Station:
Richardson Street pedestrian crossing, Hughesdale, will be closed from 5pm Friday 16 June to 4am Monday 19 June 2017. Please follow detour signs via Poath Road level crossing or Warrigal Road footbridge.

The shared use path located on the south side of Hughesdale Station, between Poath Road and Galbally Reserve, will be closed from Monday 15 May 2017 until mid-2018. Please follow detour signs in place via Poath Road and Arthur Street.

The pedestrian footpath on the south side of Willesden Road near Poath Road is now closed until early 2018.
For your safety, please observe any signage and instructions put in place during these works.

Oakleigh Station
The shared use path from the eastern end of Oakleigh Station car park to Huntingdale Station will be closed from 5am on Tuesday 13 June to 5am on Wednesday 28 June 2017. Please follow detour signs in place.

Clayton Station:

  • Clayton Road pedestrian level crossing (west side) is closed until late August 2017. Please detour via the pedestrian crossing on the eastern side of Clayton Road.
  • Additionally, there will be a minor diversion of the Clayton Road pedestrian crossing (east side) from 10pm Friday 16 June to 4am Monday 19 June 2017. Please follow signage in place.
  • Centre Road pedestrian level crossing (south side) is now closed until mid-2018. Please detour via the pedestrian crossing on the northern side of Centre Road. Please follow traffic controls in place.
  • The shared-use path on the south side of Carinish Road (between Flora Road and Madeleine Road) is now closed until mid-2018. This is to enable safe access to the rail corridor for construction of the new elevated rail structure over Clayton Road. Detour signs are in place at either end of the closure directing pedestrians and cyclists to cross to the north side of Carinish Road.
  • The Haughton Road footpath extending from the end of the car park (between Pullyn Street and Collier Road) is now closed until mid-2018. The area is fenced off and the detour is on the south side of Haughton Road.

Corrigan Road: March – June 2017

  • Corrigan Road pedestrian level crossing (west side) is closed until 5pm on Friday 30 June 2017. For your safety, please follow detour signs via the pedestrian crossing on the eastern side of Corrigan Road.

Chandler Road: April – mid-June 2017

  • Chandler Road pedestrian level crossing (east side) is closed from Wednesday 26 April until mid-June 2017. For your safety, please follow detour signs via the pedestrian crossing on the western side of Chandler Road.

Noble Park Station

  • Heatherton Road pedestrian level crossing (north side) is closed until mid-2018. Please detour via the pedestrian crossing on the southern side of Heatherton Road. Please follow traffic controls in place.
  • These closure dates are subject to change. For your safety, please observe any signage and instructions put in place during these works.

We are upgrading the lifts at Dandenong Station as part of our station improvement works program. During this time, the lifts will be out of service.

WHEN IS THIS OCCURING?
From Monday 17 July until Friday 17 September.

HOW WILL THIS AFFECT ME?
Passengers requiring lift access and wishing to disembark at Dandenong Station during the hours of 7am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm Monday to Friday should travel to Noble Park Station where a taxi service will be provided to travel to Dandenong Station.

Passengers requiring lift access and wishing to board at Dandenong Station during the hours of 7am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm Monday to Friday should contact customer service staff who can direct them to the taxi service to travel to Noble Park Station.

If you are travelling outside of these hours including weekends and require lift access, please contact Dandenong Station customer service staff on 9619 8989 prior to arriving at Dandenong Station who will arrange alternative transport.

Directional signage will also be installed to direct customers to the taxi service at both stations.
