Rail Awareness & Safety Education

Metro provides rail safety education for schools and communities across greater metropolitan Melbourne. Sessions help to build the skills and awareness of students and vulnerable community members to stay safe around trains, tracks and stations and to travel safely.

We offer no-cost sessions in schools for students from year 1 to year 9, along with rail safety sessions and travel training out on the network to increase the confidence of vulnerable community members. We can also arrange sessions prior to school excursions.

We cover topics related to:

  • Platform and train safety
  • Safe use of rail crossings
  • Journey planning
  • Tickets and concessions
  • Laws and traveling behaviours
  • Role of an Authorised Officer

Metro promotes the use of PTV’s Public Transport Teachers Hub and TrackSAFE’s Learning Resource Centre  where curriculum based lessons can further educate students on safe travel.

Our online booking form is currently under construction, for any queries please email us at community.education@metrotrains.com.au
