Maintenance works in Altona

To help improve the safety and efficiency of Melbourne’s metropolitan rail network, critical safety works will be undertaken Altona in June.
The critical safety works form part of Metro’s annual works program to maintain and renew the rail network.

What’s happening?
During these works it will be necessary to close the level crossing at Maidstone Street, Altona (adjacent to the Maidstone Street Grassland area) from 6am Saturday 11 June to 6am Sunday 12 June while maintenance works take place.

There will be no impacts to the level crossing near Westona Station.

What to expect?
During this time:
• the level crossing at Maidstone Street will be closed to vehicles
• traffic management and detours will be in place, to assist vehicles moving in the area
• heavy machinery will be in operation during these works

The traffic management plan was approved by both VicRoads and Hobsons’ Bay City Council to ensure the most efficient detours are in place.
Vehicles will not be able to turn down Maidstone St from Kororoit Creek Rd and will be detoured via Kororoit Creek Rd, Millers Rd and then Civic Parade.
Every effort will be made to complete works within these time frames and keep noise to a minimum.
