It was a Bark and Stormy night…

During Melbourne’s week of humidity, thunder and lightning in January, Metro’s stations got two unexpected visitors.

Authorised Officer crews at Alphington and Springvale Stations had to become temporary dog-sitters to two of our canine friends.

Spooked by the thunderstorms, these pups turned up looking for some company.

At Springvale Station, Authorised Officers found Jakota tied to a rail after a passenger who’d found the dog had to leave it to board a bus.

The officers, Chris and Matt, contacted the local council while a third Authorised Officer, Mikey, remembered he had dog treats in his car for his own pup.

Luckily, the dog was microchipped and registered and was soon reunited with his owner who was cycling through the storm to find him.

At Alphington, an Authorised Officer crew Mohammad, Domenic and Mohammed found Summer the dog a little too close to the platform. They had to wait with the dog for over an hour before the busy Council Ranger arrived.

Luckily a passenger provided a retractable lead to help the Officers out. Summer’s owner collected her the same afternoon from Epping RSPCA.

It just goes to show that sometimes Authorised Officers have to take the Ruff with the Smooth.
