Safe travel tips
Please stay safe this festive season when travelling around our network. We encourage everyone to travel safely and consider others on your way to and from New Years Eve celebrations in the city.
Avoid rushing at stations, stops, platforms and when boarding and exiting trains.
Stay safe by staying behind the yellow line when waiting for your train and once on board, if standing, hold tight onto a pole, handrail or strap.
If you’re travelling with a pram remember to travel safely. Always hold on to your pram, make sure your child is strapped in securely and always ensure the parking brake is on to prevent rolling. Stand with your pram behind the line on train platforms and tram stops and away from the curb at bus stops.
Stay hydrated by always travelling with water.
Accessibility
If you are travelling with a pram or have accessibility needs, Melbourne Central Station is your best option when heading home from the city.
To plan your journey, use the fully accessible PTV App which includes voice over capability and large font options.
Travellers Aid Australia can also assist travellers with accessibility requirements to reach their destination safely and confidently. Travellers Aid are located at Southern Cross and Flinders Street stations.
Planned works
Temporary timetable and service changes are in place on the Werribee Line until late April 2026 due to Level Crossing Removal Project works.
During this time, including New Year’s Eve, all trains travelling to the city will not stop at Seaholme, Altona and Westona stations. A replacement bus will operate to Newport Station where passengers can change to a connecting train service. All trains travelling to Werribee will stop at Seaholme, Altona and Westona stations.
