Rail Safety Week: 15 – 21 August
It’s Rail Safety Week across Australia and Metro wants you to stay safe. There are a few little things you can do to stay safe, not just this Rail Safety Week, but whenever you’re moving around Melbourne.
Slips, Trips & Falls
Walk, not run through the station. Running through the station is never a good idea, but running on the platform is even dumber. Even if you’re running late, stay safe around platforms, and trains.
Level Crossings
Be mindful at Level Crossings. Level Crossings have safety warnings for a reason, so pay attention to booms and signals. Be safe around level crossings, and trains.
Headphones
Be vigilant when you’ve got you’re headphones in and avoid playing on your phone while you’re walking. Ignoring safety warnings is a dumb idea and slipping because you’re not paying attention is even dumber. Be safe and pay attention.
Hand Rail
Hold the handrail when riding the escalator! Not holding on is a dumb idea, running down the escalator is even dumber! Even if you’re running late, be safe around escalators.
Forcing Doors
Do not force the doors after the tone has sounded. Forcing doors is a dumb idea, you or your bag could get stuck! Even if you’re running late, be safe around train doors.
