Safe travelling with Metro this festive season

Thank you for travelling with Metro throughout the year. From the whole Metro team, enjoy a safe and happy festive season.

From Christmas Eve, through until the new year, services will run as follows:

Christmas Eve, Monday 24 December:
All lines will operate to a normal weekday timetable.

Christmas Day, Tuesday 25 December:
All lines will operate to a Sunday timetable.

Boxing Day, Wednesday 26 December:
All lines will operate to a Saturday timetable, without late night services.
Extra services will run for the cricket at the MCG.

Thursday 27 December:
All lines will operate to a Saturday timetable with extra peak hour services and without the late night services. Due to improvement works between Southern Cross and Flinders Street stations, there will be changes to the travel through the City Loop.

Friday 28 December:
All lines will operate to a Saturday timetable with extra peak hour services. Due to the Regional Rail Link project, buses will replace trains between North Melbourne and Sunbury after 10pm. Due to improvement works between Southern Cross and Flinders Street stations, there will be changes to the travel through the City Loop.

Extra services will run for the cricket at the MCG and the A-league soccer at AAMI Park.

Saturday 29 December:
Regular Saturday timetable with changes to City Loop travel. Due to the Regional Rail Link project, buses will replace trains between North Melbourne and Sunbury.

Sunday 30 December:
Regular Sunday timetable with changes to City Loop travel. Due to the Regional Rail Link project, buses will replace trains between North Melbourne and Sunbury.

Monday 31 December:
Regular weekday timetable. Additional services will operate all night on all lines through to the first scheduled service on Tuesday 1 January.

Tuesday 1 January:
All lines will operate to a Saturday timetable without late night services. Extra services will run for the VRC Races at Flemington.

Flinders St – Platform 12/13 Escalator:

Please note that the escalator for Platforms 12/13 is currently out of service for major repairs. These two platforms can still be accessed via the lift or the stairs.

Legend

Good service - trains are running on time to five minutes.
Minor delays - journey time may be increased with trains delayed by between five and 15 minutes, however stay with your planned travel.
Major delays - significantly longer journey time expected with trains delayed by over 15 minutes. Consider alternative transport while we rectify the delay.
Suspended - a section of this line has been suspended due to an unplanned disruption. Replacement buses will be used where possible but an alternative mode of transport should be considered.
Works alert - planned improvement works occurring which will alter scheduled services and normally includes the use of replacement buses.
Travel alert - special instructions or information exists for this line.
