Metro achieves record milestone.
Metro has recorded its best monthly performance result since taking over the running of Melbourne’s trains in 2009, with 92.35 per cent of trains running on time in July.
The July figures also show that 98.54 per cent of train services were delivered, making it the best month for Melbourne's trains since January 2005.
Metro CEO Andrew Lezala says the company also achieved several other milestones in July.
“We managed our best Saturday single day performance result of 98.14 per cent of trains running on time on July 21, and followed this with our best on-time performance for a business day on Wednesday July 25, with 95.22 per cent punctuality,” Mr Lezala says.
“A huge amount of effort and teamwork from across the business goes into achieving these great results.
“Our Rolling Stock division also achieved a record in July with no train faults reported on the last Sunday of the month boosting the reliability of our trains up to 100 per cent.”
Mr Lezala says it is the fourth month in a row that Metro has exceeded 90 per cent for punctuality.
"We're very proud of the work we've done to upgrade the infrastructure, maintain rolling stock and introduce new timetables, which are now all delivering the consistent results we've been working towards,” he says.
"We still have a way to go to deliver a true Metro-style network for Melbourne, but these figures show the foundations are firmly in place which is a credit to our staff, right across the business."
