The Metro network has 15 train lines spanning across the growing metropolis of Melbourne. With over 2,200 week day services and more than 3,000 services on the weekend, we'll get you to where you need to go.
Accessing the Metro network is simple – just follow these few steps.
The Network Map section of this website has a map of Melbourne’s Metro network and also maps of each Metro train line.
To travel on Metro, you'll need to travel with a myki. For information on how to buy and travel with a myki, visit myki.com.au. Metro customer service can also help you with this at premium stations across the network.
Each train station platform has a customer Information console containing a green and red button.
When the green button is pressed, an automated broadcast will announce the time of the next arriving train and how many minutes remain until that train arrives.
The red button is for emergencies only.
When the next train arrives, either press the illuminated green button on the train door or open the door by the handle.
Be aware of the small gap between the train and the platform.
The train driver will close the doors automatically once you are safely onboard.
All trains automatically broadcast the name of the next station prior to its arrival.
Most trains also have electronic signs which flash the name of the next station.
Should either or both of these services be temporarily unavailable, look for on-board network maps to find your destination.
Similar to boarding a train, either press the illuminated green button on the train door or open the door by the handle.
Mind the gap between the train and platform.

At larger stations, look for the exit barriers which open automatically when your Metcard is inserted or myki card is touched on/off.
For smaller stations, look for the stand-alone ticket readers as you leave.
