MTM preferred to operate, maintain Melbourne's train network

25 June

Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) welcomes the announcement by the Victorian Government naming MTM as the preferred tenderer to operate and maintain the Melbourne train network for an initial term of eight years.

With the aim of providing a train network 'for everyone, everyday', MTM is committed to excellence and focusing on customer safety and satisfaction to improve each customer's overall travelling experience.

The company combines the strengths and experience of three leading rail industry organisations: Hong Kong's MTR Corporation and Australia's UGL Rail and John Holland, bringing a full range of local and international expertise and best practices in railway operations, customer service, maintenance, asset management and infrastructure and project management.

"We know how important the train network is to the people of Melbourne, and we have put forward proposals to improve safety and reliability, expand capacity and enhance the customer experience, giving passengers confidence in the safety, efficiency, and reliability of the rail system," said MTM CEO Andrew Lezala. "We are looking forward to providing a world-class railway service to the people of Melbourne."
