Metro is implementing a program called Bringing Stations to Life which will turn train stations into hubs of community activity.
No longer will train stations be seen as access points to rail network, Metro aims to return train stations to the community through smart utilisation of land and introducing a wider array of services.
The redevelopment of Caulfield Station will be the first Bringing Stations to Life project to be undertaken by Metro in its first year of operations.
This multi-million dollar development will see Caulfield Station transformed with train, tram and bus services closely integrated and new sustainable station designs developed to capture the benefits of renewal energy and water recycling.
Further extension of retail facilities will be undertaken and new services introduced to create a vibrant community spirit which captures the essence of modern-day thinking with the charm of a heritage train station.
Work is expected to commence very soon with works expected to be completed with the next 12 months.
